Q: It appears I have a domain loop in my NetInfo database structure. At least, when I do a
\b Domain
\f3\b0 fi
\f0\b Open
\b0 , it sure looks like there a loop. What cause this and, more important, how can I fix this?\
\
A: One cause of this is a directory in
\b /machines
\b0 which has a
\b serves
\b0 property with an empty value. Note that this is
\i different
\i0 from a
\b serves
\b0 property with no value. A
\b serves
\b0 property should not have a null value, nor a value consisting entirely of spaces.\
\
To determine if you have such a
\b serves
\b0 property, first check to see if it seems you have a domain loop when you try to open a domain in
\b NetInfoManager
\b0 , for exmaple. The typical symptom for this problem is to have a blank directory name at the top of a domain browser column; clicking on this blank domain name will show you another copy of the same level in the domain hierarchy.\

You can use the following bit of “code” to verify that this is your problem (substitute, typically, the root domain,
